So I got to use the Plantronics RIG 500 Pro Gaming headset for a couple weeks and you can read what I think, below. But first off, a huge thanks to @riggaming for letting me test this out πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Design and build

The gold and black look fantastic. Really. I would bring this on my daily commute to work and not feel awkward or anything.

The use of aluminum makes is very attractive and makes it feel like a solid quality product.

The use of the hexagon cutouts make it look quite busy and aggressive but it makes for a nice balance of sleek minimalism and aggressive design which fits the target audience (gamers).

The ear pads are comfortable, but not for long sessions. After not too long my ears got quite warm. Also, and this could be because I may have a large head, I did experience an uncomfortable feeling on the top of my head where the stretchy top part span across my head. Like it was too tight.

Noise cancellation is ok.

Sound

Amazing. Natural and neutral.

For this price the sound quality is great! It is balanced quite well.Β  I like a punchy bass for my music and this headset delivers. With games, I could easily distinguish sounds from close by and far away resulting in a great gaming experience.

My thoughts:

πŸ‘ The good
  • Great design
  • Quality materials
  • Performance
  • Replaceable cables
πŸ‘Ž The bad
  • A bit tight, even on the largest β€˜setting’
  • Ear pads get quite warm (personal opinion)
  • Volume control on the cable is awkward and large
