TheĀ  Panther Rage RGB is one in Apacer’s line of gaming RAM with RGB. I got to try out this set of two sticks with 16gb of RAM in total in a couple of my recent builds.

What have we here

So the two sticks I was sent came as a duo in a single package. Two 8gb sticks of PANTHER RAGE DDR4 Illumination Gaming Memory Module, as the official name of these bad boys is.

I thought the LED part on top of the heatspreader was made to look like diamonds but the website says they were designed after the appearance of a panther’s fangs. In any case, I think it looks pretty cool and was sure they would looks great in my builds. Even though I put in only two sticks.

Design and build quality

The design is pretty straight forward in terms that it was designed to look flashy and it does. With the silver panther logo on the sides and the fangs/diamonds LEDs on top. Fast, quick, agile. But what these babies really want is to show off their RGB and for that we must turn the lights down low.

Performance

The performance of the Panther Rage is solid. Exactly like you could expect from 3000MHz memory modules. I read that overclocking these modules is pretty profitable but I havent tried that myself.

Built for builds

Anyway these modules are made to shine in your builds. Installing them into my builds was easy, but I mean come on, they’re RAM modules. But seriously though, it might sometimes be a tight fit especially with the heatspreaders and RGB LED becoming more extravagant these days. Clearance is great though.

I was hoping the stealth black with silver/mirror style logo on the sides would look totally badass but that effect was not what I was hoping for.

The RGB on the headspreaders looked very cool up close. But from far away the effect wears off and what is left is a faint shimmering of RGB. I would have preferred 4 sticks of the Panther Rage RGB.

But my preference goes out to solid RGB LEDs on top of the heatspreaders like the Corsair Vengeance RGB (PRO), or Apacer’s very own NOX modules (I am in love with those)

Verdict

With solid performance, overclocking potential and fabulous RGB I rate these modules a 8/10.
